Nothing Within

You always knew there was more
But the ego took the best of you
You wanted to be the best of it all:
a businessman, a husband, a lover and that's not all

And life slowly took you down several times
To break down the man created from outside
And each time you rose and got bigger still
Yet, a little of you had died with each fall

And now you have fallen to a different depth
This isn't the fall you're used to experiencing
It caught you so gently and lowered you down
To arise from this requires a different know-how

This is the biggest fall of the ego yet
While it feels so right and brings peace to the head
This life has been knocking on your door for a while
It is taking you back to the original "how?"

May you come out on the other side
May you walk into the unknown right now
May you stroll with the ease of a king
While you become nothing within
